This Weeks Parasha: Pekudai
Shabbat Shalom Umvorach
Dedicated in Honor:
Yehuda Ben Rachel
Yaffah Bat Faiga Chava
Refuah Shelema: Yosef Ben Miriam.
In this weeks Parsha It continues the description of the Mishkan.
It states that Besalel Ben Hur was designated to be in charge of the furnishings, and priestly Garments of the Mishkan. The question is why Besalel out of all people?
The Torah states Besalel Ben(the son of) Hur. Why mention the Fathers name? The answer is: When the Golden Calf was being made the nation came to Hur and told him to help make the Golden Calf, but Hur refused and was killed. For that sacrifice of his life for HaShem(G-D) Hur was rewarded by having his own flesh and blood, Besalel having the rights to be in charge of the Mishkan, which is a huge Zechut(honor).
Their was a story in the Gemara of Rav Ashi, that he planted a seed to create a plant to attract and animal, and trap it. He took the animal that he trapped gave it’s meat to charity and used it’s skin(parshment) for Sefarim(holy books) to teach his students. When Rebbe Yehuda Ha Nasi Heard about this, he was astonished and he said that Rav Ashi was a Righteous man. Why was he righteous? Because his intentions from the very beginning from planting the seed in the beginning to the end was used for righteous purposes.
How does this all connect?
Their was a certain father who asked a certain Rabbi: Rabbi at what age do I start teaching Chenuch(ethics and manors) to my children? And the Rabbi Replied: The process should’ve started years ago.
Chinuch Begins when the parents are in school. We see that Hur left a great example for his son and his son followed in his ways and was rewarded with the building of the Mishkan.
Right now we are young and we have to make ourselves better people, we have to work on ourselves right now while we are young. We have to grow spiritually and then we can be that good example for our children. How we act now, what we do now is what’s going to effect the well being of our children. Not when we are already parents. And that’s what we Learn from this weeks Parsha. Work on yourself now for your family and for everyone that will be close to you in the future. You’re young now learn Torah, listen to a Shiur online. If you’re in Yeshiva or seminary go to your Shiur, go to your classes and Bezrat Hashem(G-D Willing) you will see yourself grow and you’ll see guarantee in the future your children and yourself will be great people and make a difference for millions of people in the future.
